Purpose of the 2010 NEW Early Childhood Summer Institute:
The 2010 NEW Early Childhood Summer Institute is designed to bring early childhood academicians, administrators, teachers, and staff together to learn more about best practices, issues and developments in the field of early childhood education.

Session Content:
The 2010 NEW Early Childhood Summer Institute (“ECSI”) is seeking Proposals for Training Sessions on innovative practical experiences, applied recommended practices, and current information in topical areas related to serving children ages zero to five and their families. Where possible, the Sessions should address Core Content areas (outlined in Kentucky’s Early Childhood Professional Development Framework) which define the knowledge, competencies, and characteristics needed by early childhood professionals to work effectively with young children and their families.

  • Proposals for Training Sessions for the 2010 ECSI should address the following areas:
    - Child growth and development
    - Health, safety and nutrition
    - Professional development/professionalism
    - Learning environments and curriculum
    - Child assessment
    - Family and community partnerships
    - Program management and evaluation
    - Other relevant areas of early childhood education

Please review the Rubric for Classifying Levels of Training which will help determine the level of your Training Session.

Early Childhood Trainer's Credential:
It is our goal that all trainers hold a valid Kentucky Early Childhood Trainers Credential. However, if you do not have a Trainer Credential and you are a practitioner who conducts training less than four times a year, include a copy of your resume or curriculum vitae. This event will be submitted by ECSI for conference approval, so all contact hours of training at the NEW 2010 Early Childhood Summer Institute will count toward participants’ training requirements.

Audio/Visual Equipment:
ECSI will provide a screen and presenter’s table in each training room. All other audio-visual equipment needs (video projectors, cables, speakers, flip charts, overhead projectors, TV-VCR, A/V stands with power outlets, microphones, extension cords, etc.) will be the presenter’s responsibility. Any costs for such equipment will be the sole responsibility of the presenter. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Compensation / IRS W-9 Forms:
The lead trainer for each session accepted for inclusion in the 2010 NEW Early Childhood Summer Institute will be compensated at the rate of $150 per single session, or $300 per double session. To receive compensation, each lead trainer must complete and submit an accurate Form W-9.
